When thinking back to the revelation of the Old Fashioned, its name began in the 1880s, and has since been a widely known drink across the country. Given its old history, a simple Old Fashioned requires the simple ingredients of whiskey, simple syrup, as well as a little dash of bitters with the iconic orange wedge and giant ice ball. Without much diversity behind the recipe, the Old Fashioned is a staple drink for most casual whiskey loves, but has rarely seen modern recipe alternations without completely mixing the drink. In order to enjoy your next Old Fashioned in the big 25, below are some minor, yet amazing ways to mix up a new Old Fashioned!
Gingerbread Old Fashioned
With the holidays around the corner, it would be impossible to skip out on a seasonal treat with a specialty Old Fashioned. With this recipe, you'll be needing Bourbon Whiskey, Giffard Caramel Toffee Liqueur, Ginger Liqueur, Bob's Vanilla Bitters, and Bob's Ginger Bitters. Once you're set and ready, follow the steps below!

Pour 2 oz Bourbon Whiskey in a chilled glass with ice ball
Pour 1/4 oz Giffard Caramel Toffee Liqueur
Pour 1/4 oz Ginger Liqueur
Add 4 drops of Bob's Vanilla Bitters
Add 2 drops of Bob's Ginger Bitters
Stir glass for about 20 seconds
Garnish with gingerbread man
Banana Old Fashioned
As a personal favorite, the Banana Old Fashioned provides an even sweeter taste for tropical enjoyers of the classic Old Fashioned. For this twist, you'll be needing Bourbon Whiskey, Giffard Banane du Bresil Liqueur, and Bob's Abbotts Bitters. With this recipe, serve up a refreshing, fruitful glass that will be sure to surprise your next Old Fashioned enjoyers at the table!

Pour 2 oz Bourbon Whiskey in a chilled glass with ice ball
Pour 2/3 oz Giffard Banane du Bresil Liqueur
Add 6 drops Bob's Abbotts Bitters
Stir glass for about 20 seconds
Garnish with dried banana chip
Maple Rum Old Fashioned
Beyond a nice Old Fashioned with the classic whiskey staple, I find a nice rum to complement the traditional Old Fashioned recipe. For any other rum enjoyers trying to find a sweet kick to substitute their whiskey with their Old Fashioned, this recipe is for you! All you'll be needing for this recipe is Caribbean Blended Rum, Maple Syrup, and Angostura Aromatic Bitters.

Pour 2 oz Caribbean Blended Rum in a chilled glass with ice ball
Pour 1/2 oz Maple Syrup
Add 2 drops Angostura Aromatic Bitters
Stir glass for about 20 seconds
Garnish with orange peel
